DEREK AUSTIN is a Nashville-based country artist/writer who grew up on a farm in Minnesota. He ran a dairy operation with his brothers before moving to Washington for college, where he learned to play guitar and started writing his own songs. After college, Derek spent time in Alaska as an Air Traffic Controller before ultimately making the move to Nashville to pursue his real passion, music.
Derek's EP, Barstool Saints (June 2021), was co-produced by Jimmy Robbins and Jonathan Singleton. Derek's single, "The Bullet" (Oct. 2021), with Ashley Cooke garnered attention on Apple Music and Spotify, and was supported by a beautifully shot music video that has 817K+ views. Derek released five singles in 2022 - "Days That End in Why" with Josh Thompson, "Backroad Less Traveled", "Midnight On A Map Dot", "4WD", and "Make Me Hate You" - all produced by hitmaker Jimmy Robbins, and all of which have been featured on several Spotify and Apple editorial playlists. Derek released music videos for "4WD" and "Make Me Hate You" which premiered on CMT.com. His first single of 2023, "Beer Back," came out on Jan. 27th.
As a writer, he has cuts with Tim McGraw, Tyler Chambers, Jon Wood + others.
