DEREK AUSTIN is a Nashville-based country artist/writer who grew up on a farm in Minnesota. He ran a dairy operation with his brothers before moving to Washington for college, where he learned to play guitar and started writing his own songs. After college, Derek spent time in Alaska as an Air Traffic Controller before ultimately making the move to Nashville to pursue his real passion, music.

Derek's EP, Barstool Saints (June 2021), was co-produced by Jimmy Robbins and Jonathan Singleton. Barstool Saints + a single off the EP, "Paycheck," were featured on the Spotify editorial playlist New Music Nashville + Apple Music' New on Country Playlist. His single "Ride or Die" was featured on several Spotify editorial playlists as well, such as Next From Nashville, Fresh Finds: Country, and New Music Nashville. Other singles from Barstool Saints include "Her Daddy Don't Like Me," which fans blew up on Tik Tok shortly before its release, + "You Go Girl," which received praise from American Songwriter. Derek's single, "The Bullet" (Oct. 2021), with Ashley Cooke garnered attention on Apple Music + Spotify, and is supported by a beautifully shot music video that was featured on CMT the week after its release.

He has released four singles so far this year - "Days That End in Why" with Josh Thompson, "Backroad Less Traveled," "Midnight On a Mapdot," "4WD," and "Make Me Hate You," that have kicked off what is bound to be a great year for Derek!
